The ctt headquarters in Trier

The cusanus carrier company trier mbH (CTT) is a church health and social enterprises based in Trier . With around 2,600 employees (converted to full-time employees), the church-based organization maintains facilities in three federal states (the focus is on Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland ). Ctt mbH is a corporate member of the Caritas Association for the Diocese of Trier and a company of the Hildegard Foundation .

history

The company was founded in 1987 on the initiative of the Trier Bishop Hermann Josef Spital († 2007) as caritas trägergesellschaft trier eV . The ctt was a registered, non-profit association until June 2009. In June 2009 the eV was converted into a GmbH and has since been called cusanus trägergesellschaft trier mbH , with the abbreviation ctt retained.

"Doerfert Affair"

Under the manager Hans-Joachim Doerfert , a group with 42 institutions, 9,000 employees and an annual turnover of 500 million euros was created within a decade . In connection with investigations into fraud and breach of trust in 58 cases, Doerfert was arrested in 1999 and sentenced first to seven years by the Koblenz Regional Court and then to ten years imprisonment by the Munich Regional Court . The criminal machinations of the top management lost 50 million euros. As a result, the health company got into economic difficulties.

As a result of the “Doerfert Affair” and the criminal prosecution of the former board members, the statutes of the ctt eV were changed. The amended statutes now included more effective control options by a supervisory board with extensive powers. According to the new statutes, the association was led by a three-person board who was appointed by the general assembly for a period of five years.

The financial imbalance caused by the “Doerfert Affair” was resolved by an alliance of church organizations. The alliance of ecclesiastical institutions ( Franciscan Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Angels , Barmherzige Brüder von Maria Hilf Trier and others) campaigned for the stabilization of the ctt from 2003, the conclusion of which in 2009 was the transformation into a GmbH.
