Carl Auffenberg

Carl Auffenberg (born April 30, 1873 in Paderborn ; † March 27, 1945 there ) was a German lawyer and politician ( center ). He was a member of the Westphalia Regional Assembly and the Prussian State Parliament.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1892 at the Theodorianum grammar school in Paderborn, Auffenberg began studying law at the universities of Freiburg and Marburg , which he completed in Kassel in 1896 with the first state examination and in 1900 in Berlin with the second state examination in law. He was admitted to the bar in 1901 and one year later founded his own law firm for civil law in Paderborn. In 1920 he was also granted a license to practice as a notary. Auffenberg did his military service with the 7th Lorraine Infantry Regiment No. 158 in Paderborn. As a reservist he was first lieutenant in the Landwehr and later captain of the reserve. During the First World War he was employed as an adjutant of the German Border Guard VII.

Auffenberg, who had joined the Center Party, was a city ​​councilor in Paderborn in the 1920s and chairman of the Center faction there until 1933. From 1919 to 1933 he was a member of the Westphalia Landscape Assembly. In March 1933 he was elected to the Prussian state parliament, which was dissolved again in October 1933. In addition to his professional and political activities, he acted as legal advisor for the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

Auffenberg died on March 27, 1945 in the air raids on his hometown . His wife and a daughter were also killed.
