Carl August Wulff

Carl August Wulff (born August 20, 1808 in Hamburg ; † November 4, 1897 there ) was a German businessman .

Life

After leaving school, Wulff worked for a long time in his father's sugar boiler in Hamburg. Wulff later went to London , where he trained in business in his brothers' trading house. Together with Hermann Conrad Baasch , he founded the trading company CA Wulff & Baasch in 1842, which existed in Hamburg until 1872.

Wulff held various honorary positions. In 1852 he was provisional officer of the orphanage , from 1853 to 1855 commercial judge , in 1855 tax citizen and in 1858 and 1859 bank citizen. In addition, on June 6, 1859, Wulff was elected to the Office of Finance (later Finance Deputation). He was seconded to various deputations by this authority and belonged to it until 1868.

He was involved in the administration of the St. Jacobi Church . There Wulff acted as an adjunct in 1853 and 1854 , from 1855 to 1870 as a hundred and eighty and from 1871 to 1896 as church governor. Together with pastor Baur of St. Jacobikirche, he donated the statue of Balthasar Schuppius created by Fritz Neuber for the St. Nikolaikirche .

Wulff was a member of the Hamburg Parliament from 1859 to 1868 .
