Carl Benjamin Klunzinger (born November 18, 1834 in Güglingen ; † June 21, 1914 in Stuttgart ) was a German tropical doctor and zoologist .

Life

Carl Benjamin Klunzinger was the son of Güglingen's parish priest Karl Klunzinger . He lived from 1863 to 1869 and after a three-year stay in Europe to process his collections again from 1872 to 1875 as a doctor, mostly in Al-Qusair (Koseir) on the Red Sea , the coast of which he traveled along with the Nile Valley several times.

After returning to Germany, he received the position of curator at the natural history cabinet in Stuttgart. From 1884 to 1900 he was professor of zoology, anthropology and hygiene at the Stuttgart Polytechnic .

In 1876 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina . In 1912 he became an honorary member of the Association for Patriotic Natural History in Württemberg .

The railway and hydraulic engineer Paul Klunzinger was his brother.
