The most famous and at the same time first known building by Caufal is the Dogenhof , which was designed in the Venetian Gothic style (the Venice amusement park in Vienna was located in the Prater nearby ). His late historical buildings show a lush neo-baroque decor. Around 1910 its facades became simpler and took on secessionist design elements.
Caufal was unjustifiably judged negatively by restorers and journalists in connection with the restoration of the Doge's court in 2005. In fact, he was a versatile architect who was at the height of his time.
