Carl Flemming (publisher)
Carl Flemming (born November 10, 1806 in Cröbern near Leipzig; died November 1, 1878 in Glogau ) was a German bookseller and publisher with special merits in the fields of youth literature and cartography .
Johann Friedrich Carl Flemming was born on November 10, 1806 in the small town of Cröbern (not: Gröbern) near Leipzig - which was lost due to open-cast lignite mining in the 20th century - as the sixth child of the cottage trader and butcher Gottfried Fläming.
Flemming began his independence in 1833 by taking over the Günther bookstore in Glogau, founded in 1790, which he continued under his name.
