Carl Friedrich Brüsewitz
Carl Friedrich Brüsewitz (born March 6, 1919 in The Hague , † October 19, 2008 in Zwolle ) was a Dutch theologian .
Brüsewitz was born in 1919 in The Hague, the Netherlands. After studying theology, Brüsewitz first worked as a Mennonite pastor in the Frisian Balkans. At that time, Brüsewitz was also involved in the resistance against the German occupation and spent several weeks in a concentration camp . After the war Brüsewitz took over the pastoral position of the Mennonite community in Utrecht , where he worked as a preacher until 1965. He then switched to the Dutch evangelical prison chaplaincy , which he headed until his retirement in 1986. In addition to his work as a preacher and pastor, Brüsewitz was also active in peace work .
Between 1971 and 1979 Brüsewitz was chairman of the Algemene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit and between 1978 and 1984 vice chairman of the Mennonite World Conference . In retirement he turned to church history research and was chairman of the Doopsgezinde Historische Kring from 1983 to 1993 .
