Carl Georg Siöblad

Carl Georg Siöblad , (born November 2, 1683 , † September 1, 1754 ), was a Swedish naval soldier and civil servant. He was the son of Erik Carlsson Siöblad .

Siöblad became a second lieutenant in the Admiralty in 1699 . He was promoted quickly and was 1710 Rear Admiral (Schoutbynacht) and a short time later Vice Admiral , Admiral and upper Admiral .

While serving in the fleet , he took part in several maritime campaigns and a few skirmishes . Among other things, he was the commander of a Swedish fleet in the context of the Russian devastation , which on July 27, 1720 - against the instructions of his superiors - carried out an attack on a superior force of the Russian fleet . Sioblad's unit consisted of three ships, three frigates , three armed merchant ships and a few galleys , which were moored at Arholma . He attacked the Russian galley fleet as they tried to advance across Ledsund and Åland's southern headland. He fired at the Russian fleet and managed to sink two ships from them. During the pursuit, two Swedish frigates and two of the merchant ships ran aground and were thus lost. But the operation had stopped the advance of the Russians. He had to answer to a court for disregarding the orders of his superiors. His sentence was to waive his wages for six months. There was no further punishment.

In 1734 he was appointed Landshövding in Blekinge and in 1739 he was appointed Reichsrat . But he let himself be dismissed from office at his own request and later became Landshövding in Malmöhus län and Commander in Chief in Skåne .
