Carl Groß (lawyer)

Carl Emanuel Groß (born August 5, 1800 in Leer ; † January 3, 1873 ibid) was a German lawyer and politician.

Life

Groß studied law from 1816 in Lausanne, Heidelberg , Berlin and Göttingen . In Göttingen he was a member of the Frisia Association . In 1823 he became a district court auditor in Leer, in 1827 a supplier assessor in Leer, 1830 in Berum , 1833 in Emden, 1836 in Stickhausen, 1839 in Jemgum, 1844 in Erichsburg and 1847 in Leer.

From 1834 to 1837 and from 1850 to 1853, Groß was a liberal member of the 2nd Chamber of the General Assembly of Estates of the Kingdom of Hanover . From May 18, 1848 to May 20, 1849 he was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly ( Casino , Landsberg ) and was a member of the Committee for the Navy. He elected Friedrich Wilhelm IV as Emperor of the Germans. In June 1849 he took part in the Gotha assembly. After receiving a warning about adhering to the imperial constitution, he voluntarily resigned from the civil service in 1849 and lived in Leer as a private citizen.
