Carl Heinrich Poppenburg

Carl Heinrich Poppenburg (born March 5, 1811 in Potsdam , † October 17, 1869 in Kyritz ) was a German theologian and politician . He was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives (1856-1858).

Life

Born the son of a clerk, Poppenburg studied Protestant theology in Halle from 1830 to 1833 after attending grammar school in Potsdam . During his studies in 1831 he became a member of the Old Halleschen Burschenschaft Germania and the Burschenschaft Arminia Halle . Because of this, he was sentenced to six years' arrest in 1835 ; however, he was pardoned for a year in 1836. He served his imprisonment in Rügenwalde prison from 1837 to 1838 . In the black book of the Frankfurt Federal Central Authority it is recorded under the number 1266. In 1840 he became pastor in Groß Woltersdorf, in 1850 superintendent in Brüssow and in 1860 superintendent in Kyritz. From 1856 to 1858 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives as a non-attached member for constituency 4, 2-3 / Oppeln 6.
