Carl Josef (* 2005 in Braunschweig ; real name Carl Josef Statnik ) is a German comedian .

Life

Carl Josef suffers from the muscular hereditary disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy , which was diagnosed when he was six years old and which, given the current state of medicine, will probably not make him older than 30 years. His YouTube video about his appearance in the comedy format NightWash , in which he describes his life in a wheelchair, was viewed 4 million times within a week in 2019. This was followed by a number of TV appearances, u. a. at Luke Mockridge's Show Luke! The great night show and brilliant next to it . In addition, Carl Josef was seen on the TV comeback of NightWash together with Atze Schröder on Sat.1 . Carl Josef concluded his debut year as a comedian in December 2019 with an appearance on Comedy Splash , which was filmed by Saarländischer Rundfunk .

In his program, Carl Josef deals with topics such as social interaction with disabled people and the resulting pity, which is not always welcome.

Carl Josef was discovered through an Instagram chat with the comedian Jan Overhausen , who has been his mentor ever since.

Carl Josef lives with his parents in Vechelde-Bettmar . He has a sister five years older than him and is attending secondary school.
