Carl Josef Bauer

Carl Josef Bauer (* 1895 or 1897 near Munich ; † around 1964 or 1989) was a German graphic artist , painter . He was president of the artist society Allotria .

Life

Bauer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich , with Wilhelm von Diez and Angelo Jank , among others . In the 1920s he found his typical Art Deco style, which is particularly evident in his files . His exhibitions were also on view in the Glaspalast in Munich. Bauer was president of the artists' society Allotria for ten years . The Art Deco style etchings, which were created between 1914 and 1928, were published in the Hanfstaengl printing house. He was represented in Hitler's art collection with his painting “The Bathing Amazon”.
