Life

Carl Kaye was born in Vienna in 1953 and has learned a wide range of musical instruments from various private teachers since he was five. In 1975 he received his first pedal steel guitar (a Shobud Pro-1 Singleneck) and declared the steel guitar to be his favorite instrument. He played with numerous US country artists in Austria ( Patsy Montana , Rose Maddox , Charlie McCoy , Narvel Felts , Stonewall Jackson , Norma Jean , Herb Remington , Kinky Friedman , George Hamilton IV. , Tommy Cash , Jack Greene , David Frizzell , Billie Jo Spears , Gail Davies ), but also with Austrian acts such as Kurt Ostbahn ("Ostbahn-Kurti"), who gave him the nickname "Commander", Meena Cryle , or Andy Lee Lang .

Carl Kaye is one of the few European pedal steel guitar players who was included in Mel Bay's "Anthology of Pedal Steel Guitar".
