In 1985 Lang, who took ten years of classical piano lessons, founded his first band, the "Rock 'n' Roll Rats". The band had their first concerts at football clubs and in the HAK . The cast consisted of four men, model was Jerry Lee Lewis . In 1988 a new band with five men was formed around Lang. They often performed papas tapas in a Viennese pub . First radio and TV appearances followed on Without Muzzle and The 50s Come . In 1990 the band was reorganized with five men and one woman. That year the first CD was released, "Back To Rock 'n' Roll", a mixture of R&R classics and original compositions.

1991 was the difficult new beginning with the 6-man band "The Nighthawks". The second CD, "Rockin 'Piano Man", appears. The original composition "Texas Train" is played on the radio in some US states. Appearances with Rocco Granata , Percy Sledge and Big Jay McNeely follow. In 1993 Lang played double concerts with Jerry Lee Lewis . However, Lewis falls ill. Lang therefore plays in Zurich (with the legendary Elvis guitarist James Burton ) and in the Wiener Stadthalle. This was Lang's national breakthrough. Concerts in Morocco, Germany, France, Switzerland, Slovakia and the USA (Los Angeles and Las Vegas) earned him the nickname "The Austrian Ambassador of Rock 'n' Roll". This is followed by joint appearances with Bill Haleys Original Comets, Wanda Jackson , Carl Perkins and Fats Domino .

In 1995 a new, larger band was formed. "The Spirit" is formed around Lang. A live CD and a video will be produced on the occasion of the 10th stage anniversary. Lang plays a double concert "Rockin 'Christmas" with Jerry Lee Lewis in the Wiener Stadthalle and has a performance with Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley at the Vienna Jazz Festival. In 1996 Lang played at 240 live concerts, many with international greats. Lang received the “Key Of Success”, “World Lifetime Achievement Award” and “The Platinum Record For Executive Performance” awards from the USA.

In 1997 the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien entrusted Lang with the musical direction and the leading role in the musical "Elvis Forever". In 1998, Lang presented the “Oldies Show” on one of the new private radio stations. At the Danube Island Festival in Vienna there is a joint appearance with the Coasters . Studio recordings with Buddy Knox , DJ Fontana and The Coasters are preparing the CD "Together". Lang celebrates concert successes in Spain, Portugal, France and Finland.

In 1999 a new project is born: "The Rocking Threee". Andy Lee Lang, Mat Schuh and Dennis Jale perform together. Andy Lee Lang lends his voice to the carnivorous plant “Audrey Two” in the musical Little Shop Of Horrors . Performances in Egypt, Holland, Italy and Croatia increase his international popularity. The tenth CD, "Greatest Live Hits", has long been awaited by fans. Andy Lee Lang is also giving a concert in Shanghai.

The Wiener Metropol engaged Lang in 2000 for the musical "Be-Bop A Lulatsch '59". Based on an idea by Günter Brödl , a musical about rock 'n' roll, career and intrigue will be produced. In addition to Lang, Günther Mokesch , Mat Schuh , Pia Baresch and others are involved, musically accompanied by The Spirit. More than 25,000 spectators attend the 59 shows. In August 2000, Lang traveled to Memphis, Tennessee for Elvis Memorial Day at the invitation of Billy Swan . Lang appears with the original Elvis musicians DJ Fontana and Scotty Moore and with Billy Swan. In autumn 2000, Lang celebrated his 15th stage anniversary in Vienna. 2000 will be the year with the most appearances for Andy Lee Lang & The Spirit. Lang from Cambridge also received the “2000 Outstanding Musicians Of The 20th Century-Performing And Songwriting” award, making him one of three Austrians in this category alongside Falco and Joe Zawinul .

At Christmas 2005, shortly after celebrating his 20th stage anniversary, Lang suffered burnout . In May 2008, after a two and a half year break, he celebrated his stage comeback. In 2010, Lang played the burned-out Austro rocker Gogo in the musical “Go West”, who found himself as Buffalo Bill after a fateful return of soul .
