Mo (musician)
Günter "Mo" Mokesch (* 1959 in Vienna ) is an Austrian singer , composer , musical performer , music producer and author .
Early years
The musicality of mother Anna, who is active in the community choir, and the musical rural schooling lead Günter Mokesch to the early decision to become a musician. He gained his first stage experience at the age of seventeen as a singer in the Weinviertel-based band "EVE". In 1979 he moved to Vienna, where in the following year, on the one hand, as a soloist and, on the other, together with his colleagues in the rock band "Winter", as the annual winner in two categories of the band competition "Popodrom", he made the first regional headlines.
Career
Singer
In 1980 Mokesch was hired as the lead singer of the rock theater formation Hallucination Company , of which he was a member until 1982. He then spent a few months in Rome to work there with the members of the dance company of the same name at the invitation of Lindsay Kemp . Back in Vienna, he formed his first band, “The Gangsters In Love”. In 1983 he released his debut single Love, Bread and Thousand Kisses, followed in 1985 by the first album The Archangel Novotny . The breakthrough came in 1987 with the single Send Me Roses recorded as a duo with Karin Raab , which reached number 9 in the then official Austrian hit parade (sales charts) and number 1 on Ö3 . The success in other countries followed several tours, including one in Germany, and the single Smile with a new version of the title from 1983, which he still calls his favorite song today. Two more singles followed by 1993 ( Wild Wild Wild , 1991; If You Want My Love , 1993) and two albums ( Dancing with an Eskimo , 1991; Confession , 1993), which made it into the charts.
On October 8, 2010, Hallelujah, his first solo album in seven years, was released, of which the piano version of Send Me Roses included as a bonus track was airplayed on the radio. In April 2013 he celebrated his 30th stage anniversary with a concert with Andy Baum . This resulted in the first joint program with Andy Baum. In 2016 Günter Mokesch released the EP Alles wird Gut & Three Songs for My Son. In 2018, together with Titus Vadon , Erwin Bader, and Peter Pansky, formerly "Das Balaton Combo" formed his new band.
