Life
At the age of 21, in 1978, he took part in the popodrome competition in Vienna as the guitarist of the group "Stonehenge". "Stonehenge" won a major British band competition in Liverpool in 1980 (with Baum as a singer) and then went on tour as the first Austrian band to tour Great Britain .
Andy Baum celebrated some respectable successes, especially in the 1980s. He was a member of the Hallucination Company from 1982 to 1984 . His band Andy Baum & The Trix acted as a backing band for Dana Gillespie from 1984 . In the fall of 1986 he had his first successes with his song Only A Whisper . Still Remember Yvonne was his first hit parade in 1988 (number 17), the number Slow Down reached number 10 in the Austrian charts in 1989. Between 1989 and 1995 there were also numerous concert appearances and tours in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Baum also worked as a film composer and music producer. In spring 2007 the film "42plus", for which Baum wrote the film music, was released in Austrian cinemas.
Andy Baum has been head of his own solo singing class at the Vocal Summer Academy in Eisenstadt, Burgenland, since 2001 .
The eldest of three sons in an artist family is himself the father of two children. His brothers Martin and Thomas also have relevant professions as writers and screenwriters.
In the summer of 2012 Andy Baum drew attention to himself with an interview in derstandard.at , in which he supported the project to introduce a charge on internet connections. For this reason, Baum was criticized, as a general suspicion of possible offenses to collect a tax is highly controversial. Baum continues to work as an activist for levies on behalf of copyright owners.
