Carl Lauenstein (born September 16, 1919 in Bodenstedt , Braunschweig district ; † May 31, 2009 in Vechelde ) was a German politician of the DP / CDU and a farmer .

Life

Carl Lauenstein first attended elementary school and then high school. He took part in World War II from 1939 to 1945, he was a battery leader in an artillery regiment and received several war awards. At the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the Soviets (1945–1948).

After his return in 1948 he worked as a farmer. From 1952 to 1972 he was a member of the council in the former Bodenstedt community. In 1952 he also moved into the Braunschweig district council for the DP , where he remained a member until its dissolution in 1974.

In 1962 Lauenstein switched to the CDU. From October 1964 to November 1972 he was an honorary district administrator in the Braunschweig district. From 1972 he was a member of the council of the municipality of Vechelde , where he was honorary mayor for a legislative period from 1981 to 1986 . From 1981 he was a member of the district council of the Peine district .

From May 6, 1959 to June 20, 1986, Carl Lauenstein was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (4th to 10th electoral term). He belonged to the CDU parliamentary group from March 29, 1962.

He worked as a member of the CDU Federal Agricultural Committee and chairman of the CDU State Agricultural Committee in Braunschweig. He was chairman of the Supervisory Board of Braunschweiger-Zucker-AG.

Carl Lauenstein was married and had three children.

Honors

In 1983 Lauenstein received the Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his work .
