Carl Leonhard Becker (born May 5, 1843 in Bonn ; † January 6, 1917 there ; ± Alter Friedhof Bonn ) was a German painter and engraver.

Life

Becker came from the old Bonn art gardener and landscape gardener family Becker . His father was the art gardener and draftsman Anton Becker. He was married to Franziska Berke. His son was the painter Hans-Josef Becker-Leber , married to the painter Sophia Becker-Leber . His grandson, son of the aforementioned, was the draftsman and graphic artist Helmar Becker-Berke . His daughter Elisabeth (1874–1942) was married to the well-known philosopher Joseph Geyser . His granddaughter was the federal judge Maria Elisabeth Geyser .

Becker studied at the Berlin Academy and worked primarily as a painter and illustrator. Becker became famous for drawing and engraving Greek coins. Later he made numerous bookplates .

Becker was also a passionate baritone singer and sang in concerts.
