childhood and education

The Protestant community in Stockhausen was affiliated to the parish of Jechaburg until 1894 . The pastors came from there and held services in the village church. As the population grew, the community broke up and declared itself independent. From May 1, 1894, Carl Moeller was ordained as an assistant pastor in Stockhausen , and on December 16, 1894 he was appointed parish vicar . From December 1, 1897, he was officially allowed to call himself a pastor.

During his time in Stockhausen he wanted to improve life in the village. He fought against - in his opinion - unchristian and immoral excesses, which he often referred to as "moral decay". He promoted education, welfare and nursing. He owed the stock houses a children's custody (1895), a public library (1895), a new, larger school building (1900) and a deaconess station (1901). Further structural measures were the construction of a rectory in 1898 and the new building of the St. Matthias Church in 1905, designed by Theodor Quentin . Later he had a new cemetery built. Furthermore, he dealt intensively with the history of Stockhausen and the surrounding area. Almost everything that is still known about this village today is due to Moeller's research. While working on the old cemetery, he discovered strong remains of the wall, which, as he suspected, turned out to be a kind of castle, perhaps the "Stockhus", which possibly gave the place its name.

He remained in the ministry as a pastor until his death in 1920.
