Carl Wilhelm Albert Piper (born January 13, 1837 in Neustrelitz ; † May 25, 1919 ibid) was a German judge and consistorial president.

Life

Carl Piper was the only son of the lawyer and later councilor Anton Piper . He attended the Carolinum grammar school (Neustrelitz) and studied law at the universities of Berlin and Göttingen from 1854 to 1858. Apparently he became (in Göttingen?) Dr. iur. PhD. In 1861 he joined the judicial service of Mecklenburg-Strelitz as an auditor at the Landvogtei and the Justice Office for the Principality of Ratzeburg in Schönberg (Mecklenburg) . In 1866 he was a chancellor in the Neustrelitz law firm, then city judge in Neubrandenburg . He became district court director in Neustrelitz, led the Strelitz State Ministry provisionally during the period of vacancy from 1872–1885 and was appointed president of the district court Neustrelitz in 1887. In 1886 Grand Duke Friedrich Wilhelm II appointed him as a part-time president of the grand ducal consistory.

Piper was decorated by Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1888 as Komtur, in 1893 as Grand Commander and finally in 1915 as Grand Commander with Brillaanten of the House Order of the Wendish Crown .

Piper was married to Margarethe, b. Siemerling (* 1852). Carl Anton Piper (* 1874) and Otto Piper (* 1882) were the couple's sons.

His estate is kept in the Schwerin State Main Archive.
