Carl Gustav Sandblom (born August 21, 1908 in Oslo , Norway , † June 1, 1984 in Nice , France ) was a Swedish sailor .

Career

Carl Sandblom, who was a member of the Kungliga Svenska Segelsällskapet , won the bronze medal in the 8-meter class at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam . He was a crew member of the Sylvia , which had two victories in seven races and was third behind the French boat L'Aile VI and the Dutch on the Hollandia . The Swedes and the Dutch came first twice with the Sylvia and, like the Hollandia , reached second place twice, but ultimately the number of third places in theHollandia amounted to three times, while Sylvia only once. The crew of Sylvia , led by skipper Clarence Hammar , also included his father John Sandblom and his brother Philip Sandblom as well as Tore Holm and Wilhelm Törsleff .

Sandblom was a lawyer . He taught commercial law and worked for the public prosecutor for several years. From 1953 to 1968 Sandblom held the office of mayor in Nyköping .
