Carl Schmidt (politician, 1854)

Carl Adolf Schmidt (born January 8, 1854 in Halle (Saale) ; † June 7, 1909 there ) was an entrepreneur and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Schmidt attended the first class middle and secondary school of the Francke Foundations in Halle. From April 1, 1874 to 1875 he was a one-year volunteer in Fusilier Regiment No. 36. He devoted himself to a commercial career and in 1884 took over his father's wheat starch factory in Halle.

Political activities

Schmidt was a city councilor in Halle, a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1903 until his death, and a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Saxony. From 1907 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency administrative region Merseburg 4 ( Halle (Saale) , Saalkreis ) and the Free People's Party .
