Carl Schultze , also Karl Schultze (born August 17, 1856 in Düsseldorf ; † 1926 ), was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Schultze was the son of the Magdeburg-born painter Robert Schultze (1828–1910), who, after studying at the Dresden Academy, moved to Düsseldorf in 1847 and worked in the workshop of Johann Wilhelm Schirmer . Carl Schultze studied from 1871/1872 in the elementary class of the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Heinrich Lauenstein and Andreas Müller . As a result of the academy fire in 1872 , he finished his studies and then continued his self- teaching for three years through nature studies on the Lower Rhine . Then he was a student of Georg Oeder . Together they created the decoration forest in snow for the tableau vivant Der Abschied , which was performed in December 1895 at the Düsseldorf artist association Malkasten . Schultze worked in Düsseldorf. In 1881 he went on a study trip to Paris. Others followed to the Eifel and the Ardennes, Holland, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
