Carl Teske (born December 8, 1859 in Neubrandenburg , † July 2, 1894 in Schwerin ; full name: Carl Wilhelm Julius Teske ) was a Mecklenburg heraldry.

Life

The son of a carpenter attended the Neubrandenburg grammar school, but had to leave it after the lower secondary school due to the early death of his father. He then worked as a clerk in Feldberg, at the Neubrandenburg district court, and later as a chamber clerk (copiist) in the Chamber and Forestry College in Neustrelitz. In 1891 he was appointed to the Ministry of the Interior in Schwerin and soon got a job as court chancellor in the Schwerin court marshal's office .

On the night of 2/3 July 1894 Teske committed suicide in a Schwerin lake. On July 5, his body, which was already badly decomposed, was discovered and buried in an unknown location in Schwerin. This was preceded by significant differences between Teske and the highest ranking Schwerin government officials. Circumstances suggest significant bullying problems. Essential results of an investigative commission set up by the Grand Duke were promptly removed from the government files (presumably by those involved themselves or on their behalf).

Carl Teske, who was a corresponding member of the Herold scientific association , wrote several specialist books on coats of arms during his main career, including that of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III. Commissioned heraldic book of the Grand Ducal House of Mecklenburg . At that time, Teske designed many coats of arms for municipalities and cities in Mecklenburg . Many of these coats of arms are still the basis of current coat of arms drawings.
