Carl Wilhelm Eysenhardt
Carl Wilhelm Eysenhardt (also Carolus Guilielmus Eysenhardt , born January 21, 1794 in Berlin , † December 24, 1825 in Königsberg ) was a German doctor, zoologist , botanist and director of the Botanical Garden in Königsberg. Its botanical author abbreviation is " Eysenh. "
Life
Eysenhardt was the son of a Berlin businessman and studied medicine at the University of Berlin from 1812 . In 1813 he served in the War of Liberation . In 1818 he was promoted to Dr. doctorate in medicine and surgery.
On February 7, 1820, he was awarded the academic nickname I. Marsilius of a member (1165 matriculation number.) Leopoldina selected.
Eysenhardt worked from 1823 as an extraordinary professor of natural history and botany as well as director of the botanical garden in Königsberg.
He worked with Adelbert von Chamisso and, together with him, is the first descriptor of various zoological taxa. They first described the nereids Nereis heteropoda Chamisso & Eysenhardt in 1821 and the spotted worm sea cucumber Synapta maculata Chamisso & Eysenhardt in 1821.
In his honor, Karl Sigismund Kunth named the plant genus Eysenhardtia Kunth from the legume family in 1824 .
