Carl Winchenbach

Carl Winchenbach (born October 16, 1839 according to another source, 1840 in Boisheim / Kempen ; † February 1, 1925 in Barmen ; the spelling Karl Winchenbach is also used) was a German architect and municipal construction officer for the city of Barmen.

Winchenbach was in his tenure as city architect in the then independent city Barmen 1875-1910 significant for some construction and civil engineering works responsible. These included school buildings, the slaughterhouse and cattle yard, trams, the Wupper regulation and sewer system as well as monuments. In addition to his work as a city architect, he was an alderman .

Winchenbachstrasse in the Barmen district of Wuppertal was named after him on March 24, 1910 .

In 1895, Carl Winchenbach, as a judge, played a major role in obtaining an executable design for the building of the Hall of Fame in Barmen.
