Carl von Lorck

Carl Emil Ludwig von Lorck (born August 29, 1892 in Schleswig ; † June 6, 1975 in Munich ) was a German lawyer and art historian .

Life

After studying law and completing his doctorate , Carl von Lorck became a lawyer at the Higher Regional Court in Königsberg (Prussia) . After 1945 Lorck u. a. President of the Senate at the Higher Regional Court in Schleswig , later President of the Senate at the German Patent Office and (from 1955) judge at the Supreme Restitution Court in Herford . He retired on August 31, 1959. He spent his last years in Munich.

After studying art history at home and abroad, von Lorck wrote numerous art history treatises. His work on the East Prussian manor houses , which he was able to inspect himself before the destruction of the Second World War and in the post-war period, is of particular importance . Since 1962 he was a member of the Historical Commission for East and West Prussian State Research .

Based on a manuscript by his wife Anni geb. Freiin von Schrötter (1890–1963) he published under the pseudonym Klaus Klootboom-Klootweitschen the swan collections Der Carol (1964) and Der neue Carol (1968). The real role model for the eponymous main character Carol Graf Sassenburg was the unconventional Count Carol Meinhard von Lehndorff (1870–1936), an uncle of his wife.
