Carl von Vetterlein

Carl Vetterlein , since 1888, of Vetterlein (October * 30 . Jul / 11. November  1836 greg. In Riga , † June 3 jul. / 16th June  1902 greg. In Haapsalu ) was a Baltic - Russian librarian and Real State .

Life

Carl was a son of the actor Friedrich Vetterlein and Marie, geb. Herald.

He attended the Gouvernements-Gymnasium in Mitau from 1847 to 1855 and studied law in Dorpat from 1855 to 1857 . From 1859 he was a tutor in St. Petersburg and from 1862 a teacher at the 1st Cadet Corps. From 1867 to 1902 he was a librarian, most recently assistant to the director of the imperial public library in St. Petersburg . Since 1880 he was also lecturer of the German language at the military-legal academy. As early as 1888 he was appointed to the Real Council of State and thus ennobled .

Since 1884 he was a corresponding member of the Society for History and Archeology of the Baltic Sea Provinces of Russia in Riga and, since 1895, of the Courland Society for Literature and Art .

He was married to Olga Meyer.
