Carla Speziali (born January 23, 1961 in Gresso / TI ) is mayor of Locarno in the canton of Ticino and vice-president of the FDP. Liberals Switzerland . In 2005 she was elected “Politician of the Year” ( SwissAward ).

biography

Speziali is a lawyer and partner in a law firm. In 1994 she was admitted to the bar. Her father Carlo Speziali was mayor ( FDP ) of the second largest city in Ticino, Locarno. He motivated his daughter to be politically active, Carla Speziali was already committed to equal rights for women at the age of 20. Nevertheless, she did not want to take on political offices for a long time.

In 2000 she was elected to the local government of Locarno, and in 2004 she was elected mayor. Speziali received the SwissAward in 2005, and the Swiss public voted her “Politician of the Year”. On the occasion of a replacement election to the Federal Council, she turned down a candidacy for nomination in 2010. In spring 2012 Speziali became Vice President of the FDP. The liberals of Switzerland elected.

She is the President of the Foundation Board of Fondazione Margherita Vandoni.

Carla Speziali is divorced and has a son.
