Eight-eect debuted in the World Cup in November 2010 in Hamar . There she finished fourth over 5000 m in Division B. In the 2014/15 season she achieved her first podium in the World Cup in Heerenveen with third place over 3000 m. One day later she won her first World Cup victory there in the team pursuit. At the following World Cup in Hamar, she came second over 3000 m. At the speed skating single-distance world championships in Heerenveen in 2015 , she won the silver medal over 5000 m. She finished the season in seventh place in the 3000/5000 m World Cup.
At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she became Olympic champion over the 3,000-meter distance, which is her greatest success to date.
