Carlina DIAE is a plant from the genus Eberwurzen ( carlina ) in the family of Compositae (Asteraceae).

features

Carlina diae is a dense white felted shrub that reaches heights of 40 to 60 centimeters. The leaves are prickly, have no thorns and are mostly on non-flowering, short shoots. The baskets have a diameter of 15 to 20 millimeters and are arranged in pairs of two to four in umbrella clusters. The outer bracts are entire and pinnate, the inner pale yellow.

The flowering period extends from June to July.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 20.

Occurrence

Carlina diae is endemic to Crete . The species grows on Dia , the Dionysades and on the Sideros Peninsula in limestone crevices near the sea at altitudes of 0 to 150 meters.

Taxonomy

Carlina diae (Rech. F.) Meusel & Kästner has the synonyms Lyrolepis diae Rech. F. and Lyrolepis piae B. Nord.
