Carlo Bruno (pianist)

Carlo Bruno (* 1935 in Naples ) is an Italian pianist and composer.

Bruno studied piano with Vincenzo Vitale and composition with Renato Parodi at the conservatory in his hometown . He won the Rapsodia (1951) and Martucci piano competitions (1956) and in 1960 the Premio Trieste for orchestral conducting. In 1967 he received the chair for piano at the Conservatory of Pesaro. He also taught at the Conservatory of Messina, Naples. Milan, Parma and Rome and gave piano and chamber music courses at Columbia University , the Royal Conservatory of Sydney, the Freiburg Music School , the Fondacion Coliseum in Buenos Aires and at the Festival d'Estate in Sao Paulo.

In 1956 his opera La favola dei tre gobbi (libretto by Carlo Goldoni ) premiered at the Venice Festival. For recordings of the piano quartets by Beethoven and the Gradus ad Parnassum by Muzio Clementi , he received prizes from the record critic. In 1970 he founded the Quartetto Beethoven (with F. Ayo, A. Ghedin, E. Altobelli), with which he appeared in the most important international concert halls (including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Teatro alla Scala , the Teatro San Carlo and the Wiener Musikverein ).
