Carlo Vivarelli (born May 8, 1919 in Zurich ; † June 12, 1986 ibid) was a Swiss sculptor , painter and graphic designer .

life and work

Vivarelli studied from 1934 to 1939 at the Zurich School of Applied Arts . In 1946 he became artistic director of the progressive Studio Boggeri in Milan. Vivarelli advanced here - and later back again in Switzerland - to one of the leading forces of Swiss modernism. The first paintings were created in 1950, and in 1958 he was the founder of the Neue Grafik magazine together with Richard Paul Lohse and Hans Neuburg . The Museum of Decorative Arts Zurich presented in the same year under the title Constructive graphic work of three from. The first sculpture was created in 1960, 6 square surfaces .

In 1961 Vivarelli won the competition to design the Electrolux company logo . Later he concentrated on concrete painting and sculpture . In 1977 Vivarelli was a member of the art commission for the new university buildings in Zurich-Irchel, and from 1978 to 1986 he was on the board of the Zurich Art Society.

He found his final resting place in the Sihlfeld cemetery .
