Carlos Alberto Moniz Gordilho (born July 27, 1887 in Salvador da Bahia , † June 19, 1958 ) was a Brazilian diplomat .

Life

Carlos Alberto Moniz Gordilho completed his bachelor's degree in law and social science from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 1909 . In 1912 he entered the foreign service and was employed as chargé d'affaires in Stockholm from September 5, 1918 to July 11, 1919 . From July 11, 1919 he was under Luís Martins de Souza Dantas first class legation secretary in Rome .

From January 27 to April 2, 1924, Gordilho was transferred to Madrid as chargé d'affaires and from 1925 to 1926 to Prague . After serving as envoy in Budapest from May 20 to November 14, 1934 , he was sent to Oslo as envoy extraordinary and ministerial plénipotentiaire from July 30, 1935 to July 12, 1940 , where he served on April 9, 1940 the operation weserübung accompanied, and then first to Berlin , then from 6 September 1940 to 13 February 1941, after Bern and Rome , where he delivered the declaration of war by the Brazilian government on 21 August 1942 and finally from September 4, 1942 to Zurich . From May 25, 1943 to August 6, 1949 he was envoy extraordinary and ministerial plénipotentiaire in Bogotá .
