Carlos Alves de Souza Filho (* 1901 ; † April 9, 1990 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian diplomat .

Life

Carlos Alves de Souza Filho was the son of Carlos Alves de Souza, who was head of the policy department in the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1938. He married Clelia Bernardes Alves de Souza, a daughter of Artur da Silva Bernardes . In 1934 Carlos Alves de Souza Filho was Chargé d'Affaires in Vienna, then from June 3, 1939 to May 23, 1941, Ambassador to Belgrade . After the Balkan campaign Brazil took place in London under the government of Getúlio Vargas on June 12, 1941 diplomatic relations with the exiled Yugoslav King Peter II. On. From July 29, 1945 to August 5, 1949, Carlos Alves de Souza Filho was ambassador to Havana . In his absence, Jorge Emilio de Souza was Freitas Chargé d'Affaires in Havana. From February 16, 1950 to February 20, 1956, Carlos Alves de Souza Filho was ambassador to Rome .

From March 10, 1957 to January 20, 1964 he was ambassador to Paris . During this period, the so-called Guerra da Lagosta ( lobster war ) between Brazil and France took place between 1961 and 1963 .
