Carlos Celso de Ouro Preto
Carlos Celso de Ouro Preto (born October 14, 1891 in Rio de Janeiro , † April 4, 1953 in Paris ) was a Brazilian diplomat .
Life
Carlos Celso de Ouro Preto was the son of a countess and the Conde Afonso Celso de Ouro Preto (born March 31, 1860 in Ouro Preto in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais ; † July 11, 1938 in Rio de Janeiro ). Carlos Celso de Ouro Preto studied at the University of Friborg in Switzerland and obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro . In 1913 he joined the Itamaraty foreign service . From 1916 to 1917 he was the second class diplomatic secretary in Berlin, where his son Carlos Sylvestre de Ouro Preto was born. From 1917 to 1918 he was legation secretary in Bern and from 1918 to 1920 in the same capacity in London . From 1919 to 1926 he was legation secretary in Paris , where he was present at the signing of the Versailles Peace Treaty . From 1926 to 1927 he was Secretary of the First Class Embassy in Santiago de Chile . From 1931 to 1934 he was diplomatic secretary in Vienna , where Maria Pinto Batista de Castro gave birth to his son Gil Roberto Fernando de Ouro Preto on July 9, 1931 . In 1934 he was secretary of the embassy to the Holy See in Rome .
From 1934 to 1936 he was again Secretary of the Embassy in Santiago de Chile . In December 1936, he was at the Inter-American Conference for the Maintenance of Peace in Buenos Aires . In 1937 he headed the “Politics and Diplomacy” department at Itamaraty in Rio de Janeiro and from 1938 to 1939 he was the executive secretary-general of Itamaraty .
From 1939 to 1942 he was Ministre plénipotentiaire in Bucharest and from April 3, 1942 to March 23, 1945 in the same capacity in Ankara . From 1945 to 1946 he was Ambassador to La Paz (Bolivia), from March 5, 1946 to January 18, 1950, Ambassador to Santiago de Chile and from April 4, 1950 to April 4, 1953, Ambassador to Paris.
