Carlos Johnson Carpio (born July 10, 1984 in Cartago ) is a Costa Rican football player on the position of defender . He currently plays for the New York Red Bulls in the top division of North American football, Major League Soccer (MLS).

Career

Club career

Johnson began his active career as a football player in the youth teams of CS Cartaginés . In 2004 he moved to the top Costa Rican league for CS Herediano . At the Rojiamarillos , the club's nickname, he made a total of 91 professional appearances with a record of four goals before he left in 2008. In 2008 he moved to Norway to Bryne FK . In the second-rate Adeccoligaen Johnson completed 17 championship games and came up with one goal.

In March 2009 he transferred to the United States , to the New York Red Bulls, who played in Major League Soccer. He made his MLS debut on April 5, 2009 when he played against Chicago Fire when he was substituted on for Jeremy Hall in the 62nd minute .

International

Johnson could u. a. Gaining experience in the U-17 team in his home country . He also took part in the 2001 U-17 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago , where he was used in all four games. He made his debut in the senior team of Costa Rica in 2006.
