Carlos Ponce

Carlos Augusto Ponce (born September 4, 1972 in Santurce , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican actor , singer and songwriter .

Life

Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Humacao, where Ponce grew up. Ponce first appeared in television commercials when he was six. He later attended Humacao High School, where he was a member of the school theater group. In 1986 his family moved to Florida. Here, too, Ponce appeared several times in the school theater group and was soon considered the best young actor in the southern United States .

In 1990 Ponce hosted the talk show Hablando on the Spanish-language channel Univision . This show should mark the beginning of his television career. From then on he made a name for himself both as a series actor and as a singer. Ponce's debut album, Carlos Ponce , went straight to number 1 in 1998 on the Latin American scene in the United States and in Central and South America. The song Amelia from his second album became the official song of the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville.

Since 2003, Ponce has also worked as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight magazine , which is considered to be the best entertainment news magazine in the world. In 2006, Ponce took part in the recording of the controversial Spanish version of the US national anthem. That same year he hosted the Miss Universe election .

Private

On October 5, 1996, Ponce married his childhood sweetheart Veronica. The two have two sons (* 1999 and * 2001) and two daughters adopted in 2003 (twins, * 2002).
