Univision is a United States media company headquartered in Los Angeles , California . Univision is a Spanish language television station. Main production locations are in Miami , Florida . In contrast to its main competitor Telemundo , Univision does not offer English subtitles for its programs.
In June 2006 Univision was acquired by a consortium made up of Saban Capital Group , Madison Dearborn Partners , Providence Equity Partners , Texas Pacific Group and Thomas H. Lee Partners .
Company history
Univision was founded in 1955 when the television network KCOR-TV, later KWEX-TV, was producing for a Spanish-speaking audience in San Antonio, Texas. The station was part of the Spanish International Network (SIN) (Univision's predecessor). SIN was part of the Mexican media company Telesistema Mexicano (Mexico's largest private television station and the predecessor of Televisa ).
