Carlos Torrent

Carlos Torrent Tarres (born August 29, 1974 in Sant Joan les Fonts , Catalonia ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Carlos Torrent began his career in 2000 with the Spanish cycling team Costa de Almería . In 2002 he won a stage at the Vuelta a La Rioja and also won the overall standings. Afterwards he was mainly active on the track : Together with Carlos Castano , Sergi Escobar and Asier Maeztu he finished third in the team pursuit at the UCI Track World Championships in 2004 and he also won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Athens in the same year Discipline. Overall, he was five times national champion in disciplines on the track, in 2006 alone he was three times Spanish champion.

In 2005 Torrent was successful again on the road with a stage win at the Vuelta a Castilla y León . In the 2006 season he was successful on a day segment of the Burgos Tour , during which he also won the leadership jersey for one day. He remained active as a cyclist until 2010; last year he started again at track world championships and finished twelfth in the points race .
