Carole Sergent

Carole Sergent (born January 22, 1962 in Montargis , Loiret ) is a French jazz singer .

Sergent studied singing at the CIM ( Center d'informations musicales ) with Christiane Legrand and Laurence Saltiel, then at the ARIAM ( Atelier de recherche informatique, architecture et modélisation ) of the École nationale supérieure d'architecture in Paris-La Villette . In the course of her career she has performed with big bands and as a soloist (accompanied by the double bass) at numerous French jazz festivals such as the Jacques Brel Festival, Jazz Amiens, Jazz Montlouis, Printemps Bourges, Tourtour Paris and Jazz sous les Pommiers . Since the 1980s she has also made guest appearances on television programs for France Télévisions; She also presented the albums Chant du corps (1994), Cherche passion (1997) and Sur ta peau (2004). In addition to her own compositions, her repertoire mainly includes jazz standards and songs from the Música Popular Brasileira , for example by Antônio Carlos Jobim , Paulinho da Viola or Nelson Cavaquinho .
