Caroline Lavelle

Caroline Lavelle (* 1969 ) is a British pop / rock - singer and cellist , has released three solo albums and participated in numerous projects of other artists and bands.

Career

Caroline Lavelle studied at the Royal College of Music in London . During the 1980s she played baroque music in a band called Humouresque on the street, often outside of Kensington and Covent Garden underground stations .

Frankie Gavin asked her to join his band De Dannan . She stayed there until the early 1990s, along with Mary Black and Dolores Keane .

In 1992 she contributed voice and cello to the title Home of the Whale on the Massive Attack EP Hymn of the Big Wheel . Producer William Orbit became aware of her and produced her solo debut album Spirit in 1995 . In the same year she began to make recordings and tours with the Canadian artist Loreena McKennitt . Since then she has been part of the McKennitt Band and took part in their Ancient Muse tour, as well as the a trio performance tour (2017).

According to a newspaper report by the UK Sunday Times , this album brought her to Madonna and Lavelle worked with William Orbit and Madonna. She produced two other albums, Brilliant Midnight (2001) and A Distant Bell (2004).

Her Home Of The Whale track (with Massive Attack ) can be heard in the film Das Auge (with Ewan McGregor and Ashley Judd ). Lavelle took part in the soundtrack for the John Dahl film Joyride with her song Anxiety .

Caroline Lavelle lives in the south of England.

Participation

Lavelle has worked with Laurie Anderson , The Waterboys , Loreena McKennitt , Siouxsie and the Banshees , Graham Parker , The Cranberries and Ryuichi Sakamoto , among others . Art of Trance did some remixes of their songs.
