Carron ( Gaelic : Carrann ) is a village in the Scottish council area of Moray and the traditional county of Banffshire . It is located about five kilometers southwest of Aberlour and 22 km south of Elgin on the north bank of the Spey . The listed Carron Bridge crosses the Spey on the eastern edge of the village .
Carron is located in the middle of the important Speyside whiskey region and is itself the location of the currently closed Imperial whiskey distillery , which belongs to the international Pernod Ricard group. There are numerous other distilleries in the neighboring villages of Aberlour and Knockando .
