Carsten Knop

Carsten Knop (born February 10, 1969 in Dortmund ) is a German journalist and publisher of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung .

Life

Even before graduating from high school at Humboldt-Gymnasium in Dortmund, Knop did an internship in an editorial department of the Westfälische Rundschau as a freelancer in the local editorial offices of this newspaper. During the study of business administration at the University of Muenster with a focus on organization and personnel economics, spent most Knop Break with representatives for editors. After completing his studies, he did an internship at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in 1993 .

The journalistic training was followed by the first editorial position in 1995: It was soon clear that the Börsen-Zeitung would be transferred to Düsseldorf as a correspondent . The change of location made it possible to return to the FAZ's Düsseldorf office in 1996, which had already been the volunteer’s outstation. After three years of reporting on companies on the Rhine and Ruhr, he moved to New York as a business correspondent in May 1999 . In April 2001, Knop moved to San Francisco to observe what was happening in Silicon Valley . After his return to the Frankfurt headquarters, from spring 2003 until the end of 2006 he was responsible for the pharmaceutical / biotechnology, information technology and “People and Economy” page and until the end of 2014 also for the “The Lounge” page.

From the beginning of 2007 he was the editor responsible for corporate reporting, and from 2014 to the end of 2017 he was also responsible for economic reporting.

From 2018 to April 2020, Knop succeeded Mathias Müller von Blumencron as editor-in-chief for the digital products of the FAZ On April 1, 2020, Knop was appointed as the successor to Werner D'Inka as editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
