Carsten Kober (born October 11, 1967 in Bad Schwartau ) is a former German soccer player .

Player career

He made his debut at Hamburger SV on the first day of the 1987/88 season . In the next few years Carsten Kober became an important part of the HSV defense. He was particularly known for his tough style of play, which earned him numerous cautions and the nickname "Master Of Straddle". Up until his last game for Hamburger SV on May 18, 1996, he had played a total of 223 Bundesliga games in which he only managed one goal. He also played 16 DFB Cup and 15 European Cup games for HSV.

Carsten Kober moved to Hertha BSC in the 2nd Bundesliga for the 1996/97 season . With the capital city club, he made it to the Bundesliga. However, after he was unable to maintain his regular place due to injury, the paths parted after only one season. Initially without a club, the third division club VfL Osnabrück signed him in January 1998 for free. By the end of the season, he played in eleven games under coach Hans-Werner Moors . After persistent hip problems with the player, the club terminated its contract, which was valid until 2001, shortly after the beginning of the following season, against which he sued a labor court and received compensation.

After the playing career

After the end of his career, he went to SC Norderstedt as a manager in 2000 , but only stayed there for a year. He then moved to the marketing department of the handball club VfL Bad Schwartau .
