Carsten Rost

Carsten Rost (born October 4, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player. In the 1980s he played for 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig and for Wismut Aue in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . Rost is also a multiple junior national player.

Athletic career

As a player at FC Carl Zeiss Jena , Carsten Rost was appointed to the squad of the GDR junior national team in 1980, for which he played 18 international matches until 1981 and scored three goals. FC Carl Zeiss used the 1.75 m grid from 1980 to 1982 in the junior league. In the summer of 1981 he played three international matches with the GDR junior national team .

During the 1982/83 season, Rost moved to the first division club 1. FC Lok Leipzig. There he was used as a striker in the last two league games. In the following season he was only used as a substitute three times in the first half of the season. For the 1984/85 season, Rost joined the league competitor Wismut Aue. He made his debut in the league team as a substitute on the 3rd matchday and was then used in another eight games. He was in the starting line-up five times as a left winger, but did not reach the full playing time in all nine games. For the 1985/86 season, Rost was nominated for the major league, but was not used. Instead, he played with the second team in the second-rate GDR league , where he played 31 games in the 34 point games played and also scored five goals.

From the 1986/87 season on, Rost played for the GDR league club Motor Weimar . He was active there until 1989, but only played in the first team until the summer of 1988. There he was a regular player in 68 played point games with 59 inserts and ten goals. In 1989 a point game was recorded by the army sports community Vorwärts Dessau . In the summer of 1989 the sports location Vorwärts Dessau was dissolved and the soccer section was transferred to the civil sports community Dessau 89, which took over the ASG's league space. For the 89ers, Rost played 25 of the 34 league point games in the 1989/90 season and scored two goals. He then ended his career in high-class football at the age of 27.
