The Casa de los Picos (German House of Spikes ) in Segovia , a Spanish city in the province of Segovia in Castile-León , is a 15th century palace . The building in the historic old town, on Calle Juan Bravo , is a protected architectural monument ( Bien de Interés Cultural ).

description

The noble palace from the last third of the 15th century was built for Juan de la Hoz. The facade facing the street is very eye-catching because it consists of granite boss stones in the form of diamond blocks . Comparable buildings are the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara , the Casa dos Bicos in Lisbon , the Palacio del Infantado in Guadalajara and the Casa de las Conchas in Salamanca .

The portal is vaulted by a round arch with large vaulted stones. The porch and courtyard are decorated with ceramic tiles from Talavera de la Reina , which show different buildings in Segovia. The inner courtyard is designed in the Renaissance style.

Todays use

The building now houses the Segovia School of Art and an exhibition hall.
