Casa del Doncel
The Casa del Doncel in Sigüenza , a Spanish municipality in the province of Guadalajara in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha , was originally built in the 13th century. The Gothic house opposite the Church of San Vicente is protected as part of the historic old town as a monument ( Bien de Interés Cultural ).
history
The building was named after Martín Vázquez de Arce (1461–1486), dubbed Doncel de Sigüenza , whose family lived in the house. His magnificent tomb is located in the cathedral of Sigüenza.
architecture
The three-storey house is built with ashlar , which comes from the regional limestone and sandstone . The roof is crowned by battlements . On the street side is the arched portal , this facade is decorated with the stone coats of arms of the families Vázquez de Arce and Sosa . The interior of the Casa del Doncel has been modified several times.
Todays use
Today the building houses the local history museum and the town archive of Sigüenza.
