Case IH is a tractor brand that is part of CNH Industrial . The name is derived from the two predecessor companies Case Corporation and International Harvester .
history
Case IH came about after Case Corporation took over the agricultural machinery division of International Harvester in 1984 . In 1985, the United States Department of Justice approved the acquisition. Since then, Case Corporation's agricultural machinery has been marketed under the Case IH brand name , while Case or Case CE (= Construction Equipment ) stands for construction machinery.
In 1995 Concord Inc., a manufacturer of no-till machines, was taken over, and in 1996, Austoft Holdings Limited, a manufacturer of machines for harvesting sugar cane . In the same year, Case IH took over tractor production from Steyr Daimler Puch (with the Steyr brand ).
In 1997, Case took over Progress Agricultural Machinery GmbH (the former VEB Kombinat Progress Agricultural Machinery until 1990).
In 1999 Case Corporation was merged with New Holland to form CNH Global .
For the European market, Case IH tractors are manufactured together with Steyr , which was taken over in 1996 , primarily in the previous Steyr plant in St. Valentin (Austria); previous production sites existed in Neuss (until 1997) and in Doncaster (Great Britain, until 2000).
The merger with the tractor manufacturer New Holland in 1999 resulted in CNH; Case IH remained an independent brand. In accordance with the demands of the antitrust authorities, Case had to give up several brand names, including McCormick .
