Tabassi Castle

The Castello Tabassi is a low castle in the Musellaro district of the Italian municipality of Bolognano in the province of Pescara .

description

The castle is directly connected to the village of Musellaro by a Lombard bridge called “Luco”; this also connects the two sides of the Orta valley between Caramanico and Bolognano. The castle consists of three structures; on the west side is the Palazzo Tabassi , which has a rectangular floor plan with a basement , the entrance is on the northeast side, where a stone cornice profiles the portal. The facade of the palace is decorated with windows on three floors with carved wooden shutters, small balconies with iron railings and frames made of white stone. A sundial with seven tiles made of multicolored ceramic has been preserved on the main facade .

The main façade of the central part faces Piazza Crocifisso ; six entrances, all of which are decorated with stone, are distributed along the entire length, and an arrow loop has been preserved above the second . On the south side, an imposing staircase leads to a loggia that lies above the crucifix chapel. A richly decorated Renaissance portal opens on one side , through which one enters the church of Santa Maria del Balzo .
